How many helium party balloons would it take to lift a person?
The napkin math
- One party balloon lifts ~15 grams
- A 70 kg person is 70,000 grams
- 70,000 ÷ 15 ≈ 4,700
It's 4,700 balloons… ish
By the way: In 1982, Larry Walters actually did it with 42 much larger weather balloons.
